Intro

My interests in iconography first started as an undergraduate student at a private, protestant christian university in the Chicagoland area. I was studying worship, theology, and the arts. So, I saw iconography at a distance (in my Western, protestant world). But was intrigued. I did some base-line research and went to a few friends who were Orthodox to ask some questions. As the deadline for a thesis topic drew near, I saw a specific icon make an appearance in my life on a number of occasions, as if taunting me to understand that world. So I dived in.

I did not have a whole lot of guidance, but did a lot of reading, and wrote my thesis on Iconography, and specifically-- Rublev's Holy Trinity. I am not a part of an Orthodox community, nor have I had any formal training in the writing of icons. However, through study and meditation, I have will be entering into a learning process on the topic of "The Trinity". One of the ways I will do this is by writing the "Holy Trinity" icon, in the fashion of Rublev. The exact fashion.

So, join me, if you like. I will be meditating, praying, and working with this icon every day for 54 days. This blog will be a place for reflection both in pictorial and written form. I would love to share this experience and meditation with you.
